Cognitive Activity Kits
These Cognitive Activity Kit have been designed for people living with dementia and their families, friends, or caregivers to use together. They help exercise fine motor skills, encourage social engagement, and keep the brain active. There is no right or wrong way to use these kits. Explore the various activities and find one that meets the interests, skills and abilities of the person living with dementia. Ask them if they would like to do this activity and encourage them while doing it. You can use the photo and activity cards to have a conversation or play sorting games, watch the DVD together and talk about the videos, do the jigsaw puzzle, read the book, play I Spy with the Busy Bottle, or do the reusable activity sheets for colouring, sudoku and word searches. Also included in these kits are wooden sensory fidget toys and a list of additional resources available at Wellington County Library.
