I gave this book 3.5 stars because the pictures are nice and it is trying to teach kids about manners.

But what is wrong with this panda?

He has a bunch of doughnuts (and later admits that he doesn't even LIKE them), so he goes around offering them to everybody, and animals want them, but the panda refuses to give them out simply because they didn't say please. I get it, "please" and "thank you" are important, but what is going on in this panda's life where he is gatekeeping sugar from his friends because they didn't say Yes the way he wanted them to?

I bet that this panda needs lots of hugs and should work on his self-worth. If I were this panda's friend, I would ask, "hey, Mr. Panda, do you want a hug?" and maybe he would cry a little and sniffle out of his panda nose before quietly muttering, "yes", and you know what would happen if he didn't say "please"?? I'd hug him anyway because THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS DO.

Simple, funny, lots of animals and with an important message about manners. Cute illustration too. Highly recommend. Another good one in the Mr Panda series.

I just renewed this book for my kiddo; I'll renew it as many times as I'm allowed and probably take it out every time it's available. My son usually only lets me read books about vehicles but he loves the animals in this one as well as their strange facial expressions, and I've made a point of reading the lemur's part as dramatically as possible to drive the point home which he finds hilarious. Excellent message and gorgeous illustrations have made this a favourite. I don't even get tired of reading it. Please Mr. Panda is a perfect introduction to manners and I suggest you take it out immediately...if I haven't already

Cute story about a very important word. Illustrations are high contrast and great for young children.

Mr. Panda is searching for something and we don't know quite what until the last page.
Then we get it and we have to read it again. Simple book to promote good manners.

A good lesson in manners.

Antony's illustrations are sparse yet inventive. You can see the disappointment in Mr. Panda's eyes as each interaction lacks the politeness that he is hoping for. The use of only black-and-white animals forces our eyes toward those colorfully tempting doughnuts with every page turn.

A panda and doughnuts, a surprising combination. Is he sharing? Is he not?
A good story for learning the importance of the word "please."
